Enter the chalk art contest to be displayed during the Hot Air Balloons, Arts & Crafts Festival on June 6 & 7. (Contest on June 6)
The contest is open to artists and artist groups ages 10 and over. As a registered artist or group of 2-3, you will be given a 4 foot wide x 5 foot high space on the paved walking trail on the Warren Community College, Washington Campus. Squares will be assigned upon check in on the morning of the event.
• Each participant will receive family tickets and a parking pass when registering in advance for the event. Pick them up at check in.
• Prizes will be awarded.

• Balloon Landscape - create a piece incorporating colorful hot air balloons

Copy Cat - recreate a famous impressionist painting in chalk

All categories compete against each other.

1st - $30 & tethered ride for 2 (weather permitting)
2nd - $20 & tethered ride for 2 (weather permitting)
3rd - $10 & tethered ride for 2 (weather permitting)
Adult / Adult Group
1st - $200
2nd - $100
3rd - $50
Registration
No entry fee. Pre-registration by June 1 is recommended. If space is available, participants may register the day of the event. Entries will be processed in the order they are received. 10:30 am - 4 pm – Artists and art groups will be creating their masterpieces. Individuals are welcome to come view them at work.

1 pm – Gates open for event and attendees may view the artwork as it is being worked on. Judging will be between 4-5 pm

5 pm – Winners Announced - meet back at the contest area.

You may bring washableTempara paint (white, black, grey) may be used for the base. Please research how to use, if new to you, and note you will need to allow time for it to dry. Note times to create and plan accordingly!

Chalk will be provided or you may bring your own. Please make sure they are washable - not oil based!
Rules

Only washable chalk may be used in your design. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil-based pastels, hard pastels, etc. will be allowed.

Designs must be executed within the designated square. Approximate size of the space will be 4’ x 5’.

All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages; No lewd, graphic violence, gore, nudity

No political messages, words or symbols intended as advertising may appear in the image or space provided

Digital photos will be taken. Flying Festivals of Warren County reserves the right to use photographs for future marketing, promotion and publicity purposes.

Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any inappropriate art or writing as they deem necessary

Spaces will be assigned on first come first served basis

Official judging based on first impression, creativity, originality, skill and use of color. Decision of the judges are final.
